Help support BRAVEHEARTS with Mattocks Road Auto Repairs

One person can make a difference in the lives that surround; together a community united can change the world!

Hello, my name is Kerry Clancey from Mattock Road Auto Repairs & Marine, Cnr Mattocks Road and Cassia Way, Varsity Lakes. I also work as a Welfare Worker for QLD Health. After hearing Bravehearts lost some of their funding from the state government, I felt compelled to do something to help.

My husband (Nick) and I have a small mechanical workshop on the Gold Coast. We are kicking off KICKSTART BRAVEHEARTS fundraiser and aim to raise $500,000.00 but we need your help.

Bravehearts support thousands of Australian children who have been sexually assaulted.

We will kick off this campaign by donating a percentage of our takings on the 26th & 27th February 2010 to Bravehearts. We commit to continue this support by donating a percentage of our profits in the years to come. This ensures Bravehearts has ongoing funding, which in turn gives them the basis for building programs which protect children from this insidious crime.

Children’s innocence matters and we as adults in the community have a responsibility to protect them.

What we are doing:

Mattocks Road Auto Repairs & Marine are putting on a free sausage sizzle on 26th &27th February and there will be giveaways for children & families. White balloons, lollies, simply cupcakes and female friendly giveaways have kindly been donated thus far.

If you have anything you can contribute, we would love to hear from you. Local media press releases will be submitted before and on the day of the fundraiser to send this appeal out to as many people as we can.

In Australia 1,000 children per week are sexually assaulted, that we know of. Many cases go unreported. There is also emotional, physical and spiritual abuse. You can find more about Bravehearts and the vital services they provide by visiting their website www.bravehearts.org.au

I think about my children and how they would cope in if this ever happened to them, not to mention the guilt I would feel for not protecting them. What if services such as Bravehearts were not there to meet the needs of those most vulnerable?

This organisation needs us as a communityto step up to the plate and help raise much needed funds in order for them to continue the great work for children and parents of children who have been assaulted.

Bravehearts is Australia’s only children’s charity holistically dedicated to the issue of child sexual assault. They offer comprehensive counselling and education for children and young people plus parental support for non-offending family members along with advocacy for adult survivors. Bravehearts also invests in extensive training and research developing strategies better able to combat the complex issues associated with child sexual assault.

How YOU can help

·         Select a day or two per year and donate a percentage of your profits to Bravehearts

·         Donate online through this site and receive your fully tax deductible donation receipt (all donations over $2).

·         Donate $1000.00, and then encourage your staff to get involved by donating a gold coin. Off course any amount will impact children for the better. Our goal is to have 500 Businesses across Australia donating $1000.

·         Encourage staff to tell as many people (including their families). Pass it on, KICKSTART Bravehearts! If 500 Business within Australia sourced five Businesses to be involved by donating and encouraging staff, family, friends & neighbors to do likewise, we would be well on our way to raising these much needed funds. In theory, if everyone on the Gold Coast donated $1 then we would have $500,000.00.   Children may wish to have their schools fundraise and so on. The possibilities are endless.

·         Create your own easy-to-do personalised hero web page on everyday hero and set your goal. Email the link to your contacts directing them to your page.

·         Send this appeal to everyone you know. Child protection is everybody’s business!

Here’s a thought… If just 1000 people who drank takeaway coffee donated their coffee money on one day of the year, that would raise in excess of $5,000.00. Every cent protects precious lives.

Donations can be made to Bravehearts via www.bravehearts.org.au and following the prompts. If you have any queries about how YOU can be a part of KICKSTART, please contact me on 0411688422. If you have other ideas for fundraisers, please contact Bravehearts via their website.

On behalf of precious innocent children everywhere, we look forward to your support.

You can do something or you can do nothing, the kids hope you do something!
